The Commonwealth is a unique group of 53 countries, where English is the shared business language and the legal and financial systems are often similar to their British counterparts. With a combined population of 2.2 billion, the Commonwealth collective offers huge opportunities to British companies of all sizes and sectors.
Although it is not a trading bloc, countries within the Commonwealth share many British business practices, and the ‘Commonwealth effect’ has shown trade costs are 19% cheaper when trading within the Commonwealth than with non-Commonwealth countries. Therefore, it is unsurprising that trade between the member states is estimated to surpass US$1 trillion by 2020.
Led by the Department for International Trade (DIT) in the East of England, this free seminar will introduce the Commonwealth, discussing the export opportunities available in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and India and the support and funding which companies may be eligible to receive.
