ACAS – Demystifying mediation – digital conference

This digital conference is designed to demystify mediation.  We will look at the cost of conflict to business and the benefits of early intervention.  We will also discuss the options available under alternative dispute resolution, focusing on mediation.

The event will cover what mediation is, when it is appropriate to use it and, perhaps most beneficially, practical techniques that can be used.  We will be joined by two expert guest speakers -Professor Richard Saundry and Doctor Virginia Branney.

This conference will cover:

• Conflict and how it impacts on individuals and the organisation
• Alternative dispute resolution methods and other tools in the tool kit
• The key elements of mediation
• When is it appropriate to offer mediation?
• Useful techniques

The conference will include the following speaker sessions:

• Professor Richard Saundry

Richard Saundry is Professor of HRM and Employment Relations at the University of Sheffield and one of the UKs leading academic authority on the management of workplace conflict. He is an author of ‘Managing Employment Relations’ the core CIPD text for Employee Relations.

• Dr Virginia Branney  

Dr Virginia Branney is an employment relation consultant and mediator. She has wide experience of negotiations and workplace dispute resolution, having been an arbitrator, mediator, mediation trainer, union official and academic researcher in this field.

• Panel Discussion

You will be given the opportunity to ask questions of the panel and revisit key points raised by the speakers.
